True Disciples
So That You May Believe and Have Life – The Gospel of John
Part 35 – “True Disciples”
John 13:18–38

We do not and cannot know everything about God and how He works in our life and in our world.
See Deuteronomy 29:29, Job 11:7–8, and 1 Corinthians 13:12

There are truths unknown to us which God knows…

Jesus knows who His true disciples are: John 13:18–21

Jesus knows the future: John 13:19

Jesus knows other people's thoughts: John 13:22–26

Jesus knows there is spiritual darkness in unbelief and opposition to Him: John 13:27–30

Jesus’ teaching about loving others: John 13:31–38

Loving each other means: We must commit to be together.

Loving each other means: We must commit to engage others.

Loving each other means: We must commit to honor one another.

Taking It Home

We encourage you to take a few minutes today and this week to process this morning’s message.
These questions are designed for discussion with your family, a friend, mentor, spouse, or small group.
They are also useful for self-reflection.

  1. What stands out to you in these passages from the Bible? From the message?

  2. What is difficult for you to understand or accept in these passages from the Bible? From the message?

  3. What is God saying in these passages and through what we heard in the message about Himself? About people? About you?

  4. What examples are there to follow, commands to obey, or promises to stand on from these passages in the Bible, and from what we heard in the message?
