Acts 2:1-20
Pentecost Sunday with Siloe Covenant Church

It is 50 days after Jesus has died on the cross, and his followers are waiting expectantly to see what happens on the Festival of Shavuot (Pentecost). Jesus’s disciples know he died on Passover, was buried on the Feast of Unleavened Bread, was raised on the Festival of First Fruits, and ascended into heaven on the anniversary of when Moses went up on Mt. Sinai to meet with God. So, they are wondering what is going to happen on Shavuot (Pentecost) when they gather to celebrate the wheat harvest and remember how the presence of God came down in fire and smoke to give Moses the Word of God (Torah), and later how the presence of God came down in fire and smoke and filled the places where God resided with his people (the Tabernacle in the Wilderness and later the Temple in Jerusalem).
